I'm so glad I switched from Scottish Power. I just phoned up Southern Electric to query why the last time the guy came around to read the gas meter hadn't been registered to discover it hasn't been read since I switched. But unlike SP, SE put a note on the account that the meter was outside around the back. SP claimed they could never do that. What a bunch of 'tards. Hopefully this means that they'll read the meter next time and discover just how little gas I use.
I think my Scottish Power woes are nearly at an end. It seems that finally they've decided that the current correct reading is in fact correct, but can't accept it because some how the starting reading they have is higher o_O. Apparently it was estimated when I switched over the first time. I guess they've always been incapable of taking meter readings.
But on the plus side, the nice, friendly person on the phone is going to call me back when I'm at home and have checked the meter (again) just to confirm it really is the number everyone else agrees it is. And then I get a big shiny refund and give it all to Amazon. Or maybe not all...but a good sized chunk.
Almost got the chance to work from home today. Big Boss dude sent out an email telling everyone to stay at home cos of freezing rain...in our head office in Canada. It just happened to be raining over here too. Probably not freezing as such, but it was pretty cold.
In other news I have switched utility providers. Southern Electric came around to convince me to switch to them under the guise that they'd heard that some customers had been billed incorrectly. By pure chance they happened to find the one person that this was the case. Although you have to wonder since it's them that read the meters if they didn't organise the bill screw up in the first place. Anyhow. Being uber lazy it took him hardly any effort to convince me to switch.
And he even read my gas meter too which is the first time in over a year it's been looked at. Scottish Power believe my gas meter to read ~3500 when in actual fact it's ~2000. At best guess based on the last bill they owe me about £1000. w00t! That'll help fund my DVD addiction a lot.
Speaking of DVDs, I've finally gotten around to watching The Pacifier. Which was a lot better than people might have expected. Vin Diesel was very good at shouting at small kids and kicking evil ninja butt! No sign of him playing D&D though. I wonder what the kids reactions to him playing were. I wonder if he forced them to play like Dame Judi
Also Tescos are selling DVDs for under a quid. Looks like utter cheese mostly though - only had a brief chance to look on the way to work. I shall have to have better look tomorrow or something.
Gah! Scottish Power suck so much they rival my Dyson vacuum cleaner. They finally sort out my bill so that I just get one bit of paper with the gas and electric on and they've some how managed to completely screw up what rate my electric should be. Instead of that Day/Night dual rate, I'm being charged full rate for both. So I call them up and they promise to send me a new bill. Instead I get a letter from their debt collection agency chasing me for the money, FFS.
Having just phoned them I seem to have gotten a call monkey with a brain this time as it only took a second attempt to explain that I've got a dual bill with a dual rate electricity meter. Previous time the call monkey must have given the brain to some other call monkey cos it took many many attempts. Should have realised that would mean it'd not get sorted.
So. Once they sort out this fuckup, I think I'm going to transfer to someone vaguely competent. Anyone got any suggestions? Preferably someone who I can pay over the internet.
