Randomly chatted with lucfia the other day about the
lovemap the other day. Which had the result of her logging in, which is
always good as people logging in means (in theory) that it updates.
The main gist of the conversation ended up being how whilst in theory the project has worked, but in practice it hasn't. Reason being, that whilst it's as anonymous as I could possible make it, it doesn't get enough repeat visitors so the data is very stale. In fact at last count, the graph has about 150 incomplete links and that number isn't going down very quickly.
Having thought about it, the solution I've come up with, is to tie it in with another webapp. One that people would visit frequently. Cos at the point of login when the user provides their username and password, it'd be able to update any links they had on the lovemap. It'd still be anonymous as the main webapp would use IDs that made it easy to identify who was accessing the pages - different to the more secure ones the lovemap uses.
Problem is, that I don't have any ideas for something you lot would want to use often. My current plan though, is since the lovemap was originally intended for the IFIS site, that I could put it up there. With the forums and stuff, that'd probably get some people visiting more often. And it'd have the added bonus of removing the random elements that have signed up to it who make it impossible to work out completely :)
