Well it looks like the ADSL is dead...can't tell if it's completely dead though. In any case, the modem is working just fine if a little slowly. This of course means that my one and only phone is tied up with spodding at the moment. Given how little I use the landline, I doubt anyone will notice though.

EDIT: Ah...looks like I spoke too soon. ADSL is working just fine - silly me forgot to make sure the computer knew about it.
